What are SES salaries?
Senior Executive Service (SES) Basic annual salaries range from $114,468 to $158,500; however, an agency with a certified SES performance appraisal system can set basic pay at rates up to $172,200 (subject to change). Members of the SES are not eligible for locality pay.
What is SES level?
The Senior Executive Service (SES) is a completely separate pay and performance management system for the highest level career federal employees. Most people are more familiar with the General Schedule (GS).

A career SES member may not be reassigned or removed from the SES within 120 days after appointment of a new agency head or of a new noncareer who is the initial rater for the career appointee, unless the reassignment or removal is based upon a final rating of unsatisfactory completed before the moratorium began.
What is a 2.2 pay raise?

Does base salary include bonus in APS?
It excludes bonuses and other benefits. The weighted  median Base Salary movement from 2019 to 2020 was 0.8% for the whole of the APS, reflecting a weighted median increase of 0.8% for non-SES employees and a decrease of 0.1% for SES (refer Appendix: Table 1b).
What is the median change in base salary between SES classifications?
The Graduate, APS 2, SES 2 and SES 3 classifications had median decreases of 0.2%, 1.4%, 0.5% and 0.2% respectively. There was nil movement at the SES 1 classification. Figure 3.1 presents a comparison of median Base Salary by classification in 2016 and 2020. These are nominal figures, not adjusted for inflation.
